These extreme heat conditions will particularly affect Hadramaut, Al Maharah, Al Jawf, Marib, and Lahj governorates. Anticipated impacts on agricultural activities will be concentrated in Lahj and the central part of Hadramaut. Agricultural resources sensitive to temperature changes along the Red Sea coast are also likely to be impacted.
Rise in Rainfall: Expect a gradual increase in rainfall across the country, with levels peaking at approximately 100 to 150 mm in Ibb governorate. The highest amounts of rainfall are anticipated in the Central Highland areas.
Significant impact is anticipated in coastal areas along the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as some inland areas of Hadarmaut and Al Maharah (Fig. 1) governorates due to extreme temperatures. The onset of season started in the other main agricultural producing areas. The anticipated increase in rainfall will be advantageous for promoting germination and early crop growth.
