Compact Study of the Academic Peace Orchestra Middle East by Bernd W. Kubbig and Christian Weidlich
Peace Research Institute Frankfurt
The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) was founded in 1970 by the government of the state of Hesse as a foundation under public law. Its constitution guarantees PRIF full academic freedom. PRIF independently determines its research agenda. With more than 80 members of staff PRIF is the largest peace research institute in Germany. Since January 2009, PRIF has been a member of the Leibniz Association, the equivalent of a Center of Excellence.
PRIF’s work is directed towards identifying the causes of violent international and internal conflicts, carrying out research into the conditions necessary for peace, understood as a process of decreasing violence and increasing justice, and spreading the concepts of peace. Within the framework of its political consulting, research results are converted into practi- cally orientated options for action that find their way into the public debate.
