UAE announces annual contribution of US$200,000 to UNHCR at pledging conference

Within the framework of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, Ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva, delivered the country’s speech at the pledging conference.

He expressed the UAE’s deep appreciation for the intense efforts of the UNHCR to alleviate the suffering of refugees in all parts of the world, protect them, and find permanent solutions to their problems.

He stressed that the UAE has always been an active and effective partner of the UNHCR, recognising its noble message and its responsibility that it fulfils with complete dedication.

Ambassador Al Zaabi affirmed the UAE’s intention to continue co-operation with the UNHCR, and extend total support to its programmes to achieve the noble humanitarian goals that all parties strive to accomplish.

In this regard, Ambassador Al Zaabi announced an annual contribution of the UAE valued at US$200,000, renewing the UAE’s commitment to continue its support to UNHCR and its programmes aimed to guarantee a dignified life for all refugees.
