Senior United Nations humanitarian official Catherine Bragg today begins a four-day mission to Egypt and Syria to boost the world body's partnerships with actors in the region.
While in Egypt, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator is scheduled to meet with senior officials from the Government and the League of Arab States, as well as the UN Regional Directors' Team and the UN Country Team.
Ms. Bragg will also visit the regional office of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which was previously in Dubai before it was relocated to Cairo in mid-2009.
She then travels to Damascus from 13 to 14 January, during which she is scheduled to meet senior officials with the Syrian Government and the UN Country Team.
