London, 17 April 2025 – UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency’s national charity partner, today announced that Revolut customers in the UK have raised over £2 million since 2020 to support displaced people worldwide.
Through Revolut’s Donations feature, customers have consistently stepped up in response to humanitarian crises, providing vital support to those forced to flee their homes. Their generosity has been particularly impactful during emergencies, including the Afghanistan emergency (2021), the war in Ukraine (2022), the Türkiye–Syria earthquakes (2023) and the floods in Libya (2023).
Revolut’s innovative Donations feature enables customers to contribute effortlessly, with 100% of donations reaching UK for UNHCR, free from any fees. These contributions have helped deliver essential aid such as shelter, healthcare and emergency relief to displaced families.
Emma Cherniavsky, CEO of UK for UNHCR, said: “We are deeply grateful to Revolut and its customers for their extraordinary generosity. An incredible £2 million donated highlights the power of collective action in responding to global emergencies and offering hope to refugees worldwide. These donations helped people in need all over the world, including displaced families in Afghanistan staying warm during winter and Syrian refugees impacted by the devastating earthquakes two years ago."
“Today, when the humanitarian sector faces unprecedented challenges and global funding cuts threaten lifesaving support, collective action and solidarity with refugees is more crucial than ever."
More recently, since February 2025 Revolut customers supported the Clear Sky campaign, raising over £500,000, with Revolut matching an additional £200,000 to help Ukrainian people forced to flee their homes due to the full-scale invasion, rebuild their lives. As part of this campaign, Revolut introduced a special edition Clear Sky debit card, which mirrors the Ukrainian flag with a transparent blue and powerfully symbolises the hope for a clear and safe sky over Ukraine.
Thanks to the support of Revolut and its customers, UNHCR is helping people like Tetiana, 67, and her husband rebuild their war-damaged home in the small village of Pervomaiske, in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region.
“The massive shelling caused a lot of damage. All the windows were blown out, leaving us exposed, and the roof was full of holes,” she recalls.
Despite the hardships, Tetiana remains steadfast in her resolve to stay: “This is home. We never want to leave. We can see that the village is now coming back to life. I am not scared anymore, but I just hope for peace – for my grandchildren to grow up in peace.”
Dmytro Strelchuk, Revolut’s Head of New Markets Launch, said: “As the fullscale invasion continues in Ukraine, it is more essential than ever that charities on the ground can provide urgent support to those most in need. We are incredibly proud to help collecting donations, providing vital aid to Ukrainians forced to flee their homes. Today, we mark two significant milestones – over £2M donated to UNHCR through the Revolut app and more than £500K raised via the Clear Sky card campaign. To further our impact, Revolut will match an additional £200K. We are deeply grateful to our customers, whose generosity has helped donate tens of millions to charities worldwide.”
With humanitarian needs at an all-time high, the support of Revolut customers is more important than ever. Their contributions are helping UNHCR deliver lifesaving aid and long term support to people forced to flee, offering hope in times of crisis.
