Qatar Charity participates in sixth Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition DIHAD - 2009

Doha, April 07, 2009 - Qatar Charity's delegation will go to Dubai to participate in the Sixth Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition - DIHAD

  • 2009, which will take place from the 7 - 9 April at the Dubai International Convention Centre. The delegation includes Mr. 'A bdullah Huasin al-Ni'mah, the Vice-Chairman of the Charity's Board and the Managing Director, Dr. 'Abdullah al-Musleh and Mr. 'Abdullah al-Najjar, the Board's Members.

DIHAD ranks as the first Humanitarian and relief exhibition and conference worldwide. It is held for the sixth time in Dubai under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Muhammed Bin Rashid al -Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai.

DIHAD conference will be addressed by 30 prominent speakers of the humanitarian industry. It comprises several significant meetings tackling the world's major humanitarian challenges. It will last for three days. More than three hundred companies are participating in DIHAD 2009, with 20 per cent increase in participation compared to last year.

In a press release, Mr. al-Ni'mah said: "Qatar Charity has participated in this big relief forum due to its international importance. Thus, we participated in the conference and exhibition, which will help us learn about international organizations, which take care of relief affairs and development. This, in turn, enables the Charity to enter into partnerships with companies and organizations which offer logistics services and development programs of humanitarian activities.

In addition, Qatar Charity's stand in the exhibition will demonstrate the Qatari genuine heritage concerning the humanitarian activities." "The Charity will offer a working paper on its experience in the field of emergency and response to disasters, development of relief teams and necessary resources, partnerships and cooperation with humanitarian organizations. "He added.

DIHAD 2009 is held under the theme 'Empowering Communities: From Disaster to Development'. DIHAD aims at contributing through dialogue to a number of pressing issues affecting the humanitarian domain and communities in need, among which are: future threats, developing technological and scientific solutions and their effectiveness, means of relief in the Middle East, role of corporates, lessons learnt through experience and human disasters during the previous years 2007-2008.

DIHAD 2009 has been preceded by holding a specialized workshop entitled: "An Introduction to International Humanitarian Response System". It was organized by UN, OCHA.
