The devastating earthquakes across Türkiye-Syrian Arab Republic, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Morocco, the outbreak of conflict in Sudan that rippled throughout the region, the surge of gang violence in Haiti, the devastating cyclones and floods raging across Myanmar, Peru and Libya, the cholera and floods in Malawi and Mozambique and the devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas all demanded immediate and concerted humanitarian responses.
The ongoing war in Ukraine, the devastating drought in the Horn of Africa, and the persistent conflicts and disasters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) further underscored the global landscape of fragility.
