The long-standing partnership between the Netherlands and the Global Fund has played an important role in the fight against HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria and in building a healthier and safer world.
Our partnership
The Netherlands has been a valuable partner to the Global Fund since our inception in 2002. As a member of the Global Fund Board, the Netherlands proactively contributes to shape our governance policies and priorities. The Netherlands also engages with the Global Fund at country level, representing the donor group in some Country Coordinating Mechanisms. The Global Fund also collaborates with the Dutch global health ecosystem and benefits from its expertise. Dutch academia, technical partners and civil society organizations play an active role in the implementation of Global Fund grants in many countries. The Dutch medical and pharmaceutical industries’ capacities in research & development and innovation have led to fruitful procurement partnerships between the Global Fund and key Dutch suppliers of essential health commodities.
