This report analyses Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) data on facilitation practices in the Western Balkans. It covers the period from 1 January to 31 December, 2024, and includes an overview of data collected in 2023, highlighting any changes or emerging trends in facilitation practices. Additionally, the report examines data on pricing, as well as interviews with migrants about their experiences with the facilitation process.
A total of 13,534 migrants were interviewed for this study. The average age of those surveyed was 28 years old. Among the respondents, 93 per cent were male and 7 per cent were female. The number of migrants interviewed by Western Balkan country or territory: Albania (ALB) - 530, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) - 6,455, Montenegro (MNE) - 1,117, North Macedonia (MKD) - 1,783, Serbia (SRB) - 3,338, and Kosovo (XKX) - 301. The top five nationalities that made up the data set were from the Syrian Arab Republic (4,371), Morocco (2,588) Afghanistan (2,426), Pakistan (649), and Nepal (466).
