UNITED NATIONS, June 26 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait vowed on Wednesday evening to extend USD 100,000 to the UN Women for the next two years.
This was announced by Kuwait's acting charge d'affaires at the UN Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah during an annual UN Women meeting.
The Kuwaiti move came out of belief in the UN Women's vital role in women's empowerment and gender equality, he said.
"The State of Kuwait believes in the necessity of stepping up international efforts in the field of development cooperation between the UN Women and governments to take integrated procedures and comprehensive strategies aiming to boost women's position and broaden their involvement in all areas, including UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)," he said.
He hailed the UN meeting as a significant opportunity for renewing international commitment towards material and in-kind support for the UN Women.
The Kuwaiti diplomat voiced his country's appreciation for the UN Women's role in the direction of UN activities bearing on gender equality and women's rights development. (end) sj.mt KUNA 270019 Jun 13NNNN
