The Humanitarian Coordination Pool
The Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Humanitarian Coordination Pool (HC Pool) is a roster of pre- identified and pre-vetted high-calibre humanitarian professionals from the UN, the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement, NGOs and other organizations, who are qualified for humanitarian coordination leadership positions.
The Purpose
-
The purpose of the HC Pool is to deepen the pool of candidates identified for wider humanitarian coordination leadership positions, including Humanitarian Coordinator (HC), Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator (DHC), Regional Humanitarian Coordinator (RHC) and Deputy Regional Humanitarian Coordinator (DRHC) positions.
-
The HC Pool also aims to provide the IASC with the opportunity to pre-assess the suitability of candidates for humanitarian coordination leadership positions based on experience, skills, competencies, and motivational drivers ahead of humanitarian emergencies.
-
The HC Pool enables the Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC) and the IASC partners access and identify suitable candidates who are ready for immediate leadership assignments, including in the context of IASC scale-up emergencies to meet the urgent leadership needs on the ground.
