Humanitarian Aid at a High Level - Berlin-Based Aid Organization CADUS Demonstrates Its Capabilities in WHO Assessment

On Friday, September 27th 2024, the humanitarian aid organization CADUS will complete a multi-year classification process to become an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) with the World Health Organization (WHO). For this purpose, a fully operational EMT camp will be set up and demonstrated in Berlin, Germany. While the focus is on medical aid, everything needed in a real crisis, such as independent power, water, and food supply for the teams, must also be presented.

"We are excited that, after years of hard work, we will hopefully become a permanent part of German and international EMTs. This will simplify collaboration among aid organizations and make humanitarian aid even more efficient," said Sebastian Jünemann, CEO of CADUS.

The EMT system was created by the WHO to establish a standard that ensures professional and high-quality assistance for people in crisis areas. In an emergency, international EMTs can be quickly mobilized, ready to provide reliable assistance in a short amount of time.

CADUS will become the sixth EMT Type 1 in Germany. "In addition to our 10-year history of operations, including in Ukraine and Gaza, this is an important step in further establishing ourselves in the humanitarian landscape," added Jünemann.

In addition to WHO assessors, guests from the German Federal Foreign Office, the Robert Koch Institute as the German focal point for their EMTs and representatives of other national and international EMTs are expected at the classification ceremony.

About CADUS: The independent, non-profit organization was founded in 2014. CADUS has been active for years in northeast Syria and other regions.
