Handbook for Applying the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement

This manual provides practical guidance to field staff on how to implement the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement. For this purpose, it explains the Guiding Principles as well as provides examples of practical actions that field staff can take on behalf of internally displaced persons.

Of use to field staff working with IDPs, the handbook seeks to raise awareness to the needs of the internally displaced, measure conditions on the ground, train staff in working with the displaced and promote compliance by governments and non state actors with the provision of the Guiding Principles.

The manual was published together with the Manual on Field Practice in Internal Displacement, seeking to complement each other and together provide a sound basis for undertaking protection and assistance activities on behalf of internally displaced persons.
