These guidelines address a range of health care issues that apply to individuals of both sexes, and highlight several concerns that are specific to male victims. The guidelines divided as follow:
  • Introduction
  • Sexual violence: prevalence, dynamics and consequences
  • Service provision for victims of sexual violence
  • Assessment and examination of adult victims of sexual violence
  • Forensic specimens
  • Treatment and follow-up care
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Documentation and reporting

The aim of the guidelines is to improve professional health services for all individuals (women, men and children) who have been victims of sexual violence and to raise awareness of the problem of sexual violence.
