Several areas of Africa experience abnormal heat

Africa Weather Hazards

  1. The extent of inundation remained unchanged in South Sudan.

  2. Eastern Tanzania remains abnormally dry due to below-average rainfall since last November.

  3. Abnormal dryness persists in southeastern Angola, northeastern Namibia, northern and western parts of Botswana, much of Zimbabwe, and western Mozambique. Northern Madagascar has shown significant dryness in recent months.

  4. Flooding persists in parts of Angola and along the Shire River between Mozambique and Malawi but has improved in Zambia.

  5. Torrential rainfall resulted in deadly flooding in southern Uganda and Rwanda.

  6. Temperatures are abnormally hot in the central part of the southern African region.

  7. Eastern Ethiopia and northern Somalia experience torrential rainfall, leading to floods in Somalia.

  8. Guinea, Cote D’Ivoire, South Sudan, and eastern CAR are abnormally hot.
