At the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva Qatar Charity pledges to address the needs of one million refugees

Qatar Charity participated at the Global Refugee Forum which took place from 12-15 December in Geneva, Switzerland, It pledged to support one million refugees in MENA, Africa and South Asia through the provision of WASH, health services, shelter and quality education and economic opportunities. The pledge encompassed a contribution to support UNHCR in its crucial mandate to protect and assist refugees, supporting the provision of cash-based assistance to 150,000 refugees and host communities in Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan, and other countries. The pledge also included a contribution to support the STEP Program (Skills training and Education Program) dedicated to enabling the economic inclusion of refugees. The program will be implemented in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank and Spark through facilitation of access to quality education and vocational training to refugees, IDPs and host communities across many countries in the MENA.

Speaking at the High-Level event on Middle East & North Africa solutions, Ahmed AlRumaihi, Director of External Affairs underscored the importance of collaborative efforts for addressing the displacement crisis. "Qatar Charity never lost sight of the plight of refugees, and we hope to continue much needed immediate and collective action, providing them with the tools they need to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to the societies in which they reside."

Held every four years, the Global Refugee Forum is the largest international gathering on refugees. The second edition of the forum, co-hosted by UNHCR, and Switzerland and co-convened by Colombia, France, Japan, Jordan and Uganda, brought together more than 4,000 participants and mobilized more than 1,000 pledges of more than 2.2 billion from governments, foundations, and private sector.
