Examining strategic response to conflict-prone
situations, this report outlines the Peace and Conflict Impact Assessment
methodology, a planning and management tool to assist development and humanitarian
organisations in analysing situations of (potential) conflict and identifying
strategic opportunities for conflict prevention and peace-building. Its
main sections discuss:
- Analysis: Conflict and peace
- Strategy: Strategic choices and objectives
- Implementation: Programmes, activities
and sustainability
Of potential use in all interventions including
trade and investment, emergency relief and development assistance, the
tool aims to be of assistance in ensuring coherence between different policy
interventions on a micro and macro level and between international and
local interventions.
The tool is based on lessons learned from
impact assessment efforts in the field of gender and environmental studies,
as well as the conflict research by a range of individuals in universities,
governmental, non-governmental and intergovernmental agencies.
