With limited access to water posing a major
constraint to increasing food production in developing countries, this
report reviews various relevant issues, including agriculture's use of
water, production and food security, overuse and misuse, floods and droughts,
as well as improving rainfed production, irrigated production and policies.
Identifying increasing irrigation efficiency
as one of the top priorities, this report forms part of FAO's commitment
to help countries achieve both increased water security and improved food
security.
