Boosting the impact of aid: efficient and effective humanitarian logistics

Islamic Relief is committed to maximising the impact of its humanitarian aid. Now, in another move to help the humanitarian sector continually raise the bar, Islamic Relief has sponsored a unique event.

The aim of the Humanitarian Logistics Summit, which was held in London on 5 April, saw HRH the Princess Royal launch a logistics initiative that will deliver improvements in efficiency and impact on the ground.

The initiative brings together a partnership of humanitarian actors, including Save the Children, Merlin, Oxfam, and the British Red Cross, as well as world-renowned logistics firms, leading academics and policy-makers.

The new Humanitarian Logistics Forum aims to improve the lives and dignity of the world's most vulnerable people. It will achieve this by helping the partnership to further improve the efficiency and impact of its logistics work.

Islamic Relief is already enhancing its global logistical systems and management of in-kind donations – tents and blankets, for example.
It is expected that the new initiative will drive further professionalism, secure enhanced technical support, and achieve better value and impact in logistics.
