El Niño, a climate pattern characterized by unusually warm ocean temperatures in the Equatorial Pacific, is projected to impact the Asia Pacific (AP) region this year and is currently in its development phase. Long-range precipitation forecasts, which should not be acted upon and require national-level confirmation, showcases classic signs of El Niño across the region.
While an accurate estimation is not possible yet, some sources are pointing towards a moderate-to-strong El Niño in the coming months. However, this is still in the early days and will be confirmed as it moves into the impact phase.
