HOPE DESPITE CRISES

With great hopes for the future the new chairman of the board, Paul Mollerup, addressed the annual general assembly in Nyborg, Central Denmark.

“Impressive 1,300 donations for the work are what DanChurchAid receives every day. And this is what has made DCA and our supporters able to contribute to reach four of the MDG. This has given hope for some of the World’s most vulnerable people,” the new chairman of DanChurchAid Paul Mollerup said in his keynote speech at the annual general assembly 2014.

It is not only overseas DCA is working to be as efficient as possible. For four consecutive years the administration costs has been reduced and the administration percentage has dropped from 10% in 2009 to 8.7% last year.

The income continued to surpass the 500 million mark. A record high income reached 572 million Danish kroner (approx. 106 million USD) making DCA stronger and better equipped to meet the challenges ahead and fight poverty, climate change, food insecurity.

On a sunny spring day at the congress centre in Nyborg there were lot of things to celebrate and the new chairman as well as his speech was well received. More than 300 volunteers, representatives from the churches, the donor community as well as members of the council and the partner group had a fruitful day both in the general meeting as well as in workshops.

Still work to do

“The number of poor people in the world is going down. However, inequality is on the rise,” Paul Mollerup stressed.

“There is still a need for organisations working for the poorest and trying to alleviate poverty and fight hunger. There is still a need for DanChurchAid,” Paul Mollerup said
