Severe weather, including heavy rain and lighting, has been affecting the country, especially the northern provinces over the past few days causing floods and landslides. Approx. 64 mm of rain in 24 h were recorded in Quang Ninh city (Quang Ninh province) over 4-5 July.
According to local media, as of 6 July at 7.00 UTC, two people died, one in Hoa An district (Cao Bag province) due to a lighting strike and the other one in Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai province) due to a landslide. One more person is missing. They also reported, as of the same date, over 1 000 people evacuated, more than 579 houses resulted partially or fully damaged and traffic disruptions in the northern provinces of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, Bac Kan and Cao Bang.
Over the next 24 h more heavy rain and thunderstorms may continue to affect the northern provinces of the country.
