Vietnam - Landslide and tropical depression THREE (ADINet, NOAA-CPC, GDACS, JTWC, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 July 2024)

  • On 12-13 July, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall occurred in Ta Mo village, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province, northern Vietnam, and resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 13 July, 11 fatalities, four injured people and 46 damaged houses others affected by the event.
  • After the event, local authorities mobilized functional forces in the rescue and emergency activities.
  • Moreover, a tropical depression named THREE is moving towards central Vietnam and is forecast to make landfall over the eastern coast of Than Thien Hue province on 15 July late morning.
  • For the next 24 hours moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast across most of Vietnam, including affected areas and also central Vietnam.
