The European Commission's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) has sponsored a project in the northern province of Phu Tho to repair the flood damages caused by the tropical storm Kammuri in late August.

The 5 billion VND project is being implemented in 15 communes of two districts Cam Khe and Ha Hoa in Phu Tho province through the French Red Cross in Vietnam. The project, to last until March 1 next year, will provide rice, fertilisers and rice and corn seeds to local farmers to prevent hunger and help them restore farming. French Red Cross Chief Representative in Vietnam Eric Legendre said two similar projects will be implemented in flood-hit Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces.
