Very heavy rainfall has continued to affect central and southern Viet Nam since mid-November, causing floods and landslides that have resulted in more casualties and widespread damage. The most affected provinces are Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and Quang Ngai.
DG ECHO and the IFRC report, as of 27 November, 98 fatalities, ten people missing, 119,938 displaced people and a total of 808,584 affected people across the affected provinces. In addition, the same sources also report 2,477 destroyed or damaged houses and a total of more than 272,600 flooded houses.
Following the passage of tropical cyclones Fengshen and Kalmaegi, Viet Nam activated the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) on 13 November requesting shelter, hygiene, PPE, non-food items and health and rescue equipment. Luxembourg, Germany, and Poland offered shelter, kitchen and hygiene items.
On 30 October, Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) was activated (EMSR848) and 102 maps have been produced so far.
Over the next 72 hours, drier conditions are forecast over most of the country.
