Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds have been affecting the Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Gia Lai and Lam Dong provinces (northern Viet Nam) over 15-19 April, causing floods and several severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to the strong wind) that have resulted in casualties and damage.

According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), as of 20 April, one fatality and one still missing person are reported across the Thai Nguyen province due to strong winds and floods. ADINet also reports four injured people across the Lao Cai Province. In addition, ADINet reports more than 21 800 affected people, three destroyed houses and over 5 450 damaged houses across all nine aforementioned affected provinces.

Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall is forecast over northern Viet Nam, with locally heavy rainfall over central Viet Nam.
