All roads to the communes in South Tra My district, Quang Nam province have been heavily damaged and partitioned by a prolonged downpour in the past few days.
According to Le Ngoc Kich, Chairman of the district's People's Committee, until December 6, the transport and communication to 7 out of 10 communes in the district had been cut. The risk of hunger is likely to occur if the situation persists.
The province has provided VND 1.2 billion in emergency to support the district to mobilise more forces and means to clear the roads on December 15 at the latest in order to facilitate transport of relief supplies to the isolated areas.
The provincial People's Committee has asked the Government to support VND 15 billion and 1,500 tonnes of rice to save the flood-hit locals from hunger.
