Viet Nam - Floods (NCHMF Vietnam, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 10 June 2025)

  • Heavy rains over the past few days have resulted in floods and landslides, causing fatalities and damage in the provinces of Lai Châu, Hà Giang, and Lào Cai in northern Viet Nam.
  • As at 10 June, according to media reports, one person has died in Hà Giang Province, and another remains missing after being swept away in Lào Cai Province. In the commune of Ban Giang, Lai Châu Province, eight people were rescued, and ten homes were evacuated. The floods have further affected 138 houses in Lai Châu, as well as cropland in all three affected provinces, with around 700 livestock reported dead.
  • The next 24 hours are expected to bring more rain and isolated thunderstorms to northeastern Hà Giang Province, with a possibility of lightning, hail, and strong winds. Lào Cai can also expect additional rainfall, while Lai Châu is to experience drier conditions.
