Viet Nam - Floods and landslides, update (media, EMSR848, NCHMF, Noa) (ECHO Daily Flash of 24 November 2025)

  • Since 16 November, heavy rainfall continues to affect central and southern Viet Nam, causing flooding and landslides that resulted in fatalities and widespread damage. The five hardest-hit provinces include Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong.

  • According to media, as of 23 November, at least 90 people died, and 12 people are missing. Around 186,000 homes have been damaged across the country, while nearly 80,000 ha of cropland has also been damaged. Several national highways were blocked on 23 November due to flooding and landslides.

  • Following the passage of topical cyclones Fengshen and Kalmaegi, Viet Nam activated the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) on 13 November requesting shelter, hygiene, non-food items and health and rescue equipment. Luxembourg and Germany offered shelter and hygiene items.

  • On 30 October, Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) was activated (EMSR848) and 38 maps have been produced so far.

  • On 24-25 November, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over (south-)central Viet Nam, with additional moderate rain in the south of the country. For 24 November, authorities issued a landslide warning for Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces.
