The General director of the Deutsche Bank in Vietnam, Pham Nguyen Chi, on November 13 granted 20,000 USD donated by the bank's staff to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee to support victims affected by recent floods in the country.
Mr Chi said that over the past years, the bank's staff has conducted many activities to help flood victims overcome difficulties and they continue to raise more funds for them.
On behalf of the VFF, Ha Van Nui, who is head of the Movement department, received the donation, promising to immediately hand the money over to the victims, helping them stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
Heavy rains and consequent floods hit northern and central provinces late last month, leaving 79 deaths and missing. The number included 22 fatalities in Hanoi, where torrential rains, the worst in more than two decades, stranded traffic in many parts of the city and heavily affected citizens' life and business activities.
In recent years, many agencies, units and individuals have joined with the VFF to raise billions of dong for flood victims.
