ROK Government to Provide Humanitarian Assistance worth US$1 Million to Typhoon-hit Vietnam

  1. The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide humanitarian assistance worth US$1 million to help Vietnam’s central region, where Typhoon Damrey caused many casualties and extensive property damage on November 4, recover from the damage.

o Typhoon Damrey is estimated to have caused huge loss of human lives and property, leaving 82 people dead, 26 missing and about 120,500 houses affected.

  1. The ROK government extends deep condolences to the people of Vietnam affected by the typhoon, and hopes that they will return to their normal lives after a speedy recovery from the damage.

  2. The government of the ROK, as a responsible middle-power country of the international community, will continue to expand humanitarian assistance to join the efforts of natural disaster-hit countries and their people to recover from damage.
