Mekong river flood warning and forecasting 22 Aug 2002

During the last 48 hours, water levels at stations from Chiang Saen to Nong Khai receeded, from Paksane downstream rose. The water level at Vientiane reached the peak 12.60m and is falling down, at Nong Khai, Pakse is higher than flood stage; at Vientiane, Paksane, Thakhek, Stung Treng, Kratie, Kompong Cham, Koh Khel, Tan Chau, Chau Doc is higher than the alarm stage. In coming days, the water levels from Chiang Saen to Nong Khai and at Pakse will receede, from Paksane to Khong Chiam and at Stung Treng will rise in next 1 - 2 days, then will receede, from Kratie to the Delta continue to rise; at Tan Chau, Chau Doc will exceede flood stages, at NeakLuong will exceede the alarm stage.
