Since the beginning of this year, natural disasters have killed 121 people and injured 225 others and caused property damages of VND1,741 billion.

In a recent telegram, the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control asked all municipal and provincial People’s Committees to brace themselves for more natural calamities in the coming time.

To minimize human and property losses, they should take preventive measures against flash floods, storms and landslides, especially in mountainous and remote areas.

Residents of flood-prone areas should be evacuated higher ground far from the streams and riverbanks.
