Floods in South-Central Vietnam have cost the lives of 29 people and more than 39,212 flooded or damaged houses. As of this morning, a low pressure zone in the East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression causing strong winds and medium to heavy rain in provinces from Thua Thien - Hue to Binh Dinh in the next 24h.
The tropical depression is currently located over the Spratly islands, 410km east of the coast of Qu?ng Ngãi - Khánh Hòa with wind strengths of level 6 (ie 39 to 49 km/h). In the next 24h, it will move slowly westwards and cause strong wind and medium to heavy rain in provinces from Th?a Thiên Hu? to Bình Ð?nh.
CCFSC has provided instructions to inform all fishermen operating at sea, and send communication to the provinces to start necessary preparedness measures in line with the four-on-the-spot motto. CCFSC together with NCHMF is closely monitoring the situation and will send updated information regularly.
Please find attached an updated damage table for the flood affected provinces Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan and Dak Lak.
