AHA Centre Flash Update #3: Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (Henry), Viet Nam

Philippines

  • NDRRMC reported 11 incidents resulting from the both tropical storms. This resulted in a total of 40,253 families or 162,007 persons being affected.

  • DROMIC has reported that 858 families or 3,128 persons are currently staying in 42 evacuation centers in Regions III, National Capital Region, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

  • Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is enhanced by Tropical Depression 12 (Inday) and Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (Henry) bringing heavier rain to the northern region of Philippines. Tropical Storm 12 (Inday) has moved northwards without signs of intensifying into a tropical typhoon.

  • 152 houses were damaged; of which, 8 were totally damaged and 144 houses were partially damaged due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon

Viet Nam

  • NCHMF reported that the Tropical Storm will decrease in intensity to a Tropical Depression after landfall in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours , the tropical depression will move northwestward, weakening into a low pressure area and dissipating over upper Laos.

  • CCNDPC has reported that heavy rains flooded the coastal areas in the provinces from Nam Dinh to Ha Tinh.

Lao PDR

  • Department of Meteorology and Hydrology forecast expects heavier rainfall between 19 and 20 Jul 2018 in the north-western region of Lao PDR.
