FUNDING OVERVIEW
In the first half of 2023, Venezuela's Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) was the second most underfunded globally, with only 14 per cent of the required funding. However, this trend was reversed thanks to the advocacy work of the Humanitarian Country Team with donors. By 31 December, donors contributed US$380 million to the response, ($8.7 million outside the plan), with the HRP 52 per cent funded. As a result, the Venezuela Response Plan is the fourth most funded globally. This change reflects donor confidence in the response, with several donors able to increase their contributions, including for food security and livelihoods, nutrition, protection, water, sanitation and hygiene and health interventions. To maintain achievements from 2023 and to continue responding to critical needs, it is crucial that the HRP is supported in 2024.
In 2023, the Venezuela Humanitarian Fund and CERF allocated $12.2 million and $8 million respectively to the HRP, focusing on the most critical response gaps.
