Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) — Spotlight on Returns in the LAC region — North-South Flow Monitoring (1 - 14 July 2025)

Attachments

This report provides partners with a high-level overview of spontaneous, irregular South-bound migration flows in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). It leverages the IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) to offer regular field insights on these irregular movements. Please note: The figures presented are indicative, designed to highlight general trends for operational purposes. South-bound flow volume figures, where provided, may be underrepresented due to the diverse itineraries followed by migrants during their journeys.

Between 1 and 14 July, DTM operations continued to observe stable north-to-south migration flows across the continent. Venezuelans remained the most reported nationality, representing between 68% and 94% of migrants surveyed by DTM teams. Smaller numbers of Colombians, Ecuadorians, Peruvians, and United States nationals were also reported. Destination trends varied by subregion: in Central America, most surveyed migrants reported Venezuela and Colombia as intended destinations, while in the Andean Corridor, top destinations included Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Brazil.
