CWS Hotline - Week of 20/12/99: Floods displace tens of thousands in Venezuela
It is estimated that more than 5,000 people
have died and more than 150,000 have been left homeless from mudslides
and flooding -- the worst natural disaster to hit Venezuela this century.
CWS is helping to provide blankets and other supplies for people who have
been relocated outside of the flood region, which is in and around the
capital Caracas. CWS plans to help provide assistance within Caracas, as
well, as soon as possible.
