Situation Overview

  • On 16 March, a Category 5 Cyclone named ‘Pam’, caused widespread, severe damage and loss of life throughout Vanuatu, particularly affecting the Central and Southern regions, as these areas experienced direct impact (NDMO Vanuatu, 16 March 2015). The most impacted provinces include Shefa, Tafea, Malampa and Penama.

  • The Vanuatu National Emergency Operating Centre (NEOC) / NDMO is managing the coordination of the information gathering, the initial response and the planning for assessments.

  • The Logistics Cluster is collecting and consolidating information on challenges and constraints at extended distribution and delivery points on the islands.
