Highlights

  • The second push of food is targeting distribution to more than 200,000 individuals in Shefa, Tafea, Malampa (Paama and Ambrym) and Torba (Mere Lava). The key messages for recipient beneficiaries were published 8 April and broadcast by radio, outlining what households should expect during the distribution process. Updates on progress will be broadcast daily.

  • WASH cluster has provided hygiene kits to 8,300 or 37% of the affected households, reaching about 40,000 people.

  • 5,574 children aged 6 - 59 months received measles vaccination, along with deworming treatment, vitamin A and soap across Shefa and Sanma provinces. Distributions ongoing in Tanna.

  • The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has confirmed that three Blackhawk helicopters will be available to assist the Logistics Cluster with cargo transport until 15 April.

  • The Tropical Disturbance that formed Thursday night near Rennell Islands, Solomon Islands was officially named Cyclone Solo Friday 10 April. Guidance from the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre in Tokyo and the Fiji Met Office currently has it as a Category 2 Cyclone.
