Appeal Target: US$924,152. On 13 March 2015, a category 5 cyclone lashed the Pacific islands of Vanuatu with destructive winds surpassing 300kph, heavy rainfall, storm surges and flooding. Most recent humanitarian assessments conducted by the Vanuatu National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), UN and non- government agencies indicate that 188,000 people were affected by the cyclone with up to 15,000 homes destroyed or damaged with 75,000 people identified as in need of emergency shelter. Water, sanitation and shelter needs remain paramount. ACT members in the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand ACT Forum (PANZ) are assisting through WASH, food security and agriculture, shelter, protection and training of trainers.
