Heavy rain has been affecting the western and north-western areas of the country over the last few days causing rivers to overflow. Approx. 75 mm of rain in 24 h were recorded in Artigas town over 6-7 April.

Local media reported that several families have been evacuated and traffic disruption in the departments of Salto, Paysandu and Artigas as of 8 April early morning UTC.
