Heavy rainfall has been affecting several departments of Uruguay causing floods and resulting in widespread damage. The worst-hit departments are Ortigas, Cerro Largo, Durazno, Paysandú, Rocha, Salto, Soriano, Tacuarembó and Treinta y Tres.

According to the government of Uruguay, almost 3,000 people have been displaced of whom 1,173 in Paysandú, 727 in Durazno, 537 in Salto, 117 in Cerro Largo, 102 in Artigas, 86 in Treinta y Tres, 40 in Rocha, 37 in Soriano and 26 in Tacuarembó. In addition, some roads have been closed and power cuts have been recorded across the country.

On 14 May, moderate rain is forecast over southern Uruguay while on 15 May, drier conditions are expected across the country.
