Spain sends Uruguay $150,000 in flood aid
MADRID, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Spain
has offered Uruguay 150,000 U.S. dollars to help rebuild houses destroyed
by floods that have hit much of the country.
Spain's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation, which administers the nation's aid budget, is closely following the emergency situation and coordinating with its Montevideo Technical Cooperation Office over any further humanitarian work.
Since April, floods have affected 100,000 people in Uruguay, which has a population of 3.3 million, and caused serious damage in nine of the nation's 19 provinces.
