Los Angeles-based Operation USA announced
today that it would respond to damage to nonprofit health clinics and hospitals
likely to be caused by the approaching Hurricane Rita.
The relief group has already sent over
$500,000 worth of medicines to the Texas Primary Care Association for use
by clinics and hospitals treating hurricane victims. Those medications
are targeted to victims of hurricanes Katrina and, now, Rita.
Tyco-Kendall Corporation's Ontario, California distribution center has offered Operation USA up to 10 - 53 foot truckloads of baby diapers, baby pull ups and feminine hygiene products for immediate shipment to the hurricane regions. Operation USA also has large amounts of over the counter health care products, wheel chairs and hospital and clinical supplies ready for immediate shipment.
The relief group's President, Richard Walden, said: "Americans need to know that there are quick and effective ways to help hurricane victims. Our Texas partner is an association of over 100 nonprofit health clinics in Texas and has instant access to the most immediate needs -- initially as they treated evacuees from Hurricane Katrina and, now, from the inevitable consequences of Hurricane Rita."
The group is accepting both monetary and corporate supply contributions in bulk of needed materials and transportation.
