On 13 January, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall affected Bariadi District, Simiyu Region, in northern Tanzania, resulting in casualties and damage.

According to media, as of 15 January, 22 people died due to the landslide that occured close to the Ng’alita mine in the Bariadi District. Rescue operations have been closed.
