Operational Strategy Revision

Since November 2023, the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) has been responding to extreme weather events driven by an intense El-Niño cycle. Since the last Operational Strategy was published, more than 200,000 people have been displaced, and at least 10,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged in the Pwani, Morogoro, Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, and Lindi regions, which previously were not covered by the appeal. The TRCS is seeking an additional CHF 1 million to expand its operations in these regions, while continuing to implement early recovery and resilience activities in Manyara Region, which was severely affected by a landslide in December 2023. The appeal is scaling-up from CHF 5M to CHF 6M due to the inclusion of the 2024 rains.
