KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Through the Grain from Ukraine for Ukraine initiative, WFP has collected 9,200 mt of wheat, with milling operations to commence in February.
  • WFP is launching a winterization project under the School Meals Programme to support up to 80 schools across Ukraine.
  • According to the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, 12.7 million people in Ukraine require humanitarian assistance, of whom 5 million people face food insecurity mostly in frontline areas.

SITUATION UPDATE

  • Ukraine continues to face an increase in attacks, which severely restrict humanitarian access and operations and hamper the delivery of assistance to communities in need.
  • According to the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, 12.7 million people in Ukraine require humanitarian assistance, including 2 million children and 2.8 million internally displaced persons – a 13 percent decrease from 2024. Of those in need, 5 million people face food insecurity, with more than half living in the frontline areas.
