DONETSK FILTER STATION WAS SHELLED
Voda Donbasa has informed the WASH Cluster that their staff at Donetsk Filter station (DFS) identified two craters on the territory, yesterday morning following shelling during the night of 17th / 18th December. One projectile landed near the cleanwater reservoir control building; and a second fell between posts supporting a raised chlorine pipe. Steel cables stabilizing the pipeline were damaged but luckily there was no damage to the pipes themselves.
DFS continues to work as normal. The plant supplies clean water to the following settlements: Avdiivka, Kruta Balka, Vasylivka, Mineralne, Yakovlivka, Verkhniotoretske, part of Yasynuvata and western areas of Donetsk city, and it officially provides water in total to 345,309 people (December 2016 figures from Voda Donbasa).
