Highlights

  • In February, UNICEF reached 366,526 people (57,293 children) through water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure-related interventions, supporting 27 water utilities across eight regions. Since the beginning of the year, 989,448 people (154,664 children) have been provided safe and equitable access to sufficient water and sanitation services.
  • As part of the 2024–2025 winter response, cash-for-winterization has reached nearly 215,000 people, including over 100,000 children, addressing heating needs and ensuring their well-being. UNICEF has also supported over 1,000,000 people in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions with interventions designed to sustain or improve their district heating supply; several other district heating projects will be completed by the end of the winter season.
  • The 148 UNICEF-supported student learning support centres engaged 13,181 children (8,698 girls) in face-to-face learning in February, which is crucial for their academic and social development. Eighty-three of these centres are equipped with digital learning devices, allowing students to access online resources and participate in interactive learning activities.
  • Up to 290,000 patients in Pavlohrad, Pokrovska, Slobozhanska, Pyatikhatynska and Verkhniodniprovska city hospitals in Dnipropetrovsk now have sustainable and uninterrupted access to electricity through the installation of five solar generation stations on their roofs, with a total capacity of 450kW.
